The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) found that the average home in the country spends $2,932 a year on decorating.
This is an increase of 8.4 per cent from a year earlier.
According to the ABS, Australians spent more than $2.7 billion on indoor and outdoor decor last year, with the biggest expenditure being on the outdoor garden.
The amount spent on outdoor decor has risen to $2 billion from $1.6 billion in 2016.
This includes money spent on paint, decorating, installation and maintenance.
